Visited their Taman Mutiara shop at 66-68 Jalan Mutiara Barat 6, Taman Mutiara Barat, 56000 Cheras, KL Tel: 03-9132-7269 (website: www.jinman.co ) This is a hole in the wall kind of place, referred to us by the locals. Nothing fancy, but they are good for the fish balls, fish cake and noodles. Everything is fresh. If you like fish ball or fish cake Cantonese style, as well as noodle soup, this is the place to go. Their signature dishes are fried fish cake, fried beancurd skin with fish meat, & fishball noodle with fishnaws. One comment for the restaurant is not to use lard, use vegetable oil such as corn oil instead for fried fish cake and fried beancurd skin with fish meat etc and that will be a healthier way to cook and patrons will like that. Although the shops have bare walls, servers only served food and didn't have much interaction with customers, and I didn't expect much service, this is an awesome place to have fish ball/fish cake soup rice noodle, especially when one was hungry.
I got to know this noodle house from my cousin and immediately it became one of my favourite noodle house in Cheras. The location of the place isn't ideal because it is opposite of the main road which makes it difficult to find a parking spot. Sometimes people double park too. As for the food, I usually order the usual; dry hor fun noodles with fish balls, fish maws soaked in soup and fried fish cakes. The fried fish cakes is always served hot accompanied with chili sauce. Plus, it is super crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I always remember feeling extra satisfied and happy after eating (: I also got to try their Cham (coffee + tea) and it is good! I was quite surprised that they nail at making it because it is quite difficult to find good Cham around Cheras. The price is reasonable and the environment is pretty much the same with other kopitiams.
